On Friday, December 27, 2024, my beloved spouse and partner of 42 years, Marion Errold “Buffy” Lyon, Jr. died of complications from stage four metastatic colon cancer. He was 70 years old.
He hadn’t felt well for a while, but sometimes it’s difficult to get physicians to look beyond the obvious problems — in his case, hypertension and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy — to look for the serious problem hiding underneath the obvious.
He was diagnosed on November 26, 2024. After his second hospital admission, he was discharged home with me with hospice care. He promised me he wouldn’t die on my birthday. He kept that promise. I turned 65 on Saturday the 28th.
